Back to Blogging

You know how it can be with long-distance friends. You leave it just a little too long to call or write and then it becomes increasingly difficult to pick up the phone or kick off that email. The awkwardness mounts. The stuff to catch up on avalanches. Where to begin?

More time passes.

Well, that’s kind of where I am with blogging right now.

But, as with any good friendship, I don’t want to let things slide too far. And I know that once we do re-connect the conversation will flow just as easily as ever. So this post is my opening salvo, my apologetic text message to break the ice and bring things back from the brink.

I know I’ve neglected you, Blog, but you know how it is. I’ve been really busy. Been travelling a lot over the summer, with no internet connection, and subsequently caught up in the frenzy of Jack starting school. I promise I’ll be in touch again soon and catch you up on everything. (If you still want to know me!)

  1. Snap! Have my neglected blog horribly too over the summer due to kids, work and trips, but just posted this morning, so getting back into swing of it. First is always hardest, so now you’re off and away. Can’t wait to read about what you’ve been up to!

  3. A blogger I know stopped blogging about 2 years ago and suddenly she reappeared last week. It was so lovely to see her posting again and she received so many welcome back/we’ve missed you comments that it made me think that maybe we shouldn’t worry when we take a little break. It’s good for the soul, I think!

    • Thanks Trish – that’s so good to hear and I do think you’re right. I hesitated about publishing such a navel-gazing post but I somehow felt I needed to before getting back into my flow and it turns out the feedback from other bloggers has been really helpful.

It’s your blog, and it should fit in around your life! :) Emma PS. Welcome back anyway! I hadn’t thought you had stopped blogging, I thought you were off gallavanting somewhere!

    • Haha, well you were right really Emma, there was some gallavanting involved. Thanks so much for your comment – you’re spot on about fitting your blog around your life. Sometimes one can lose a little perspective, methinks!

  5. I really scaled down my blogging efforts over the summer, life happens!

Hurrah! Your back. Roll on more posts.

  7. Oh how I appreciate this post! I’m glad to hear from you and am guilty of the same…it weighs on me and more time passes and then there’s so much more to blog about. You put it perfectly. Whenever you find your groove again, I’ll enjoy your posts.

    • Thanks so much for your lovely comment Erin. I think there’s quite a few of us in the same boat, to be honest. I’m sure we’ll hit our stride again soon though (autumn’s sure to be a productive blogging period!) and I know I’ll certainly enjoy your posts when they start popping up again.
